At New Leash on Life, we offer mindful, reward-based dog training services of all levels of experience, ages 2 months to 20-plus years. We teach you to read and speak “dog” and your dogs to read and respond to “you.” The results? Clear communication and trust between you and your canine companion. There’s nothing more rewarding than that.
At New Leash on Life, we train dogs with respect in order to achieve results while also building lifelong relationships.
We offer private sessions for you and your four-legged friend based on your specific needs and goals.
Pre-Puppy Arrival
Yikes! Your new puppy is on the way. What food should you buy? What toys? How about crates, leashes, collars and tags? Relax! We’ll guide you through these decisions and more.
Your new pup deserves the tender loving care that any new puppy deserves. We’ll focus on socialization, proper handling, housebreaking, chewing and more.
We start with the basic language of dog so that you and your buddy can communicate clearly and successfully. We teach name recognition and requests such as: Sit, Down, Stay and more.
In this level, we raise the bar to expand where and when your dog can perform new skills. We also focus on going to various locations, such as: the bed, the car, the crate and the tub!
In this level, we fine-tune the cues your dog has already learned, making sure those cues can happen anytime, anywhere and under any circumstances. We’ll also explore distractions, waiting cues, impulse control and how to teach your dog to drop on recall. We will focus on particular problem solving.
Canine Good Citizen Prep Training
A true Good Citizen will fit in wherever you go and make you proud. Here, your dog will learn how to accept friendly strangers, walking through a crowd, grooming and more. Your dog will also learn how to use their mastered skills and apply them to real life situations.
Proper socialization is crucial to the happiness of your new family member. We’ll teach you how to socialize, not traumatize. You’ll also learn how to avoid aggression and extreme behavior based on fear.
Based on the extensive knowledge Julie gained studying Holistic Modalities for Pets at Clayton College of Natural Health, you will learn how to optimize your dogs health using nutrition, homeopathy, essential oils, and nutraceuticals.
Training is an ongoing process. To keep learned behaviors strong, we offer boarding and training for puppies and dogs who have previously completed basic training with us.
Other Services We Offer Include:
In-Home Boarding for Existing Clients
When your pup would rather stay home and avoid the stress of a kennel or vet’s office, we come to you. We offer multi-day visits or overnight stays. Contact Julie at 201-400-3325 for more information.
